Microsoft will not issue Windows 10 Licenses after January 2023

Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system is one of the most popular windows operating systems of Microsoft. This Windows 10 operating system has been available on the retail market for over seven years. This system was suspended by Windows 11 in October 2021. However, despite its long age, it remains the most popular version of Windows. It’s a global market share of 67.95% in December 2022 as compared to 16.97% for Windows 11, according to StatCounter.

But Microsoft has decided to put the brakes on issuing new Windows 10 licenses to everyday consumers. The official Microsoft Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 prop page now include the following disclaimer:

January 31, 2023, will be the last day for Windows 10 downloads for retail customers. However support with security updates remains available to protect your PC from spyware, viruses, and any other malware until October 14, 2025.

So, if you plan to download Windows 10 directly from Microsoft, you have only a few days of January 2023. Get it now before the company pulls the plug. Currently, you can download the Windows 10 Home at $139 and Windows 10 Prop will set you back $199.

For your kind information, this news pertains to Windows 10 downloads bought directly from Microsoft by everyday consumers. Moreover, we don’t know what kind of Microsoft backroom deals has with its OEM PC partners, so it’s quite possible that they might still be able to buy Windows 10 licenses for the foreseeable future.

Although Microsoft is stopping the sales of Windows 10 via its web store, you still have plenty of other ways to download the Windows 10 operating system or purchase it on DVD. For example, Amazon and online sites like Kinguin are the best options for buying Microsoft Windows 10.

It’s pretty clear why Microsoft is going to sunset sales of Windows 10; now it has the plan to shift many people over to its current Windows 11 operating system as quickly as possible. October 14, 2025, will be the last date of Microsoft Windows 10 support for general consumers. It is pretty clear that no more support and protection measures for antivirus and malware potential threats. So think about it and take the best decision and make the free upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 as soon as possible.
