A Pentagon spokesperson said the second Chinese SPY balloon has been observed in Latin America. It was flying 60,000 feet above the United States continental. This was spotted just hours after revealing that a similar type of balloon was flying across the continental USA.
Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder the Pentagon Press Secretary confirmed that we are aware of reports about another balloon that was flying over Latin America. We are now assessing it as another surveillance Chinese balloon. However, Brig. Gen. Pet Ryder did not provide details about the balloon location.
As the earlier Pentagon said on Friday, it wouldn’t attempt to remove the Chinese balloon flying over the U.S. airspace. The reason behind this is “any potential debris filed would be significant” and might cause any “civilian injuries or deaths or any significant property damage”. Shooting down the spy suspected balloon can be a safety risk to people on the ground – but Pentagon officials did not provide a plan to quickly respond to the suspected second Chinese spy balloon flying over Latin America. The different experts are also saying that this type of effort is part of the slow-moving violation of “U.S airspace and international law”
Former CIA Director John Brennan and Richard Haas, president of the Council of Foreign Relations, join Meet the Press NOW to explain what is known of the suspected Chinese surveillance balloon flying over America and analyze what motivations could be behind the act.
The big size twin Chinese spy balloon has raised the questions such as what motivations could be behind this act. This action also has ignited domestic curiosities, tensed the situation between US and Chinese Governments, serious security threats, diplomatic crises, political finger-pointing, etc.
Now the question is where it will go. It will remain the USA continental or it continues to fly over Latin America or the U.S. military decide to shoot down it from the sky – all remain unknown. But official has confirmed that it continues to move east across and dismiss the Chinese Government statement the SPY Balloon is a weather Balloon that got blown off track.
The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that it was in touch with the Pentagon to provide quick support for any needed US government response. The FAA agency also said “The balloon does not currently pose a hazard to civil aviation. If that changes, the FAA is prepared to take action,”
The Chinese government acknowledged that the craft above the U.S. “is from China.”
As far as Beijing is concerned, the Chinese government already had confirmed that the SPY balloon or airship above the US “is from China”
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website. “It is a civilian airship used for research, mainly meteorological, purposes,” It said the balloon “deviated far from its planned course” because of strong winds and a lack of steering ability. The Chinese official further explained “The Chinese side regrets the unintended entry of the airship into US airspace due to force majeure. The Chinese side will continue communicating with the US side and properly handle this unexpected situation caused by force majeure”
Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder countered the Chinese statement, “The fact is we know it’s a surveillance balloon.” And “It can maneuver.” He further said the U.S. military had been monitoring the Chinese airship balloon for days, U.S. Pentagon officials and a senior defense official told on Thursday.
The United States Department of Defense Pentagon department estimates the size of the balloon and it is roughly the size of at least two school buses, one Pentagon official said on Friday.
The huge size Chinese SPY balloon was spotted over Billings, Montana, on Wednesday, and has flown over Alaska’s islands, and through Canada to get there. The balloon-spotted fly destinations are important, important, and notable destination in Montana which is the home to one of the US’s three nuclear missile silo fields.
