WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging platforms in the world with over 2 billion users. It is also one of the most frequently updated apps.
And according to a recent report from WABetaInfo, the platform is testing a new feature that allows users to edit messages up to 15 minutes after they’re sent, similar to how the edit button works in Apple’s iMessage app.
The editing feature is useful if you want to correct spelling or grammar mistakes, or add or delete information. The feature appears to still be in the development phase, but was recently spotted in WhatsApp beta version iOS 22.214.171.124, which was released to TestFlight registered users.
Currently, the revised message will not appear if you are using an older version of WhatsApp, but users will receive a warning that their version of WhatsApp is not compatible with the new feature.
The developers are also reportedly working on another feature that will allow them to edit media captions. Since the message editing feature is still under development, there is no word on if or when it will be available to all users
A few days ago, WhatsApp introduced support for transit solutions across India, PIP mode for video calls on iOS and the new Kept messaging feature.
